Hardgainer Snacks: High Calories On The Go

In this article I will describe some of my favorite hardgainer snacks that I enjoy while bulking. My goal with this blog is to inform skinny guys/girls on how to gain weight correctly. I try to do that, by making the entire process as fun as possible. I try to make people realize that bulking is a privilege. It is due to the fact that YOU CAN EAT A LOT OF DELICIOUS FOOD.

If you have read my other posts, you are familiar that I love food.  I love everything that has to do with food. Planning, preparing, eating… If you are anything like me, you should give first snack a try. I named it “musclebulkers homemade bar”.

Other snack will be combination of different variations you can make or buy. What is more, we will also explore some of my favorite brands of junk food.

Nuts in the store

Hardgainer snacks will eliminate two often stated excuses that I hear from skinny guys:

  • “I get full quickly and can’t finish my meal”
  • Having snacks, distributed evenly throughout the day will make your digestive system work less. When we are not eating for 5 hours and then trying to consume a large meal all at once it is hard on the stomach. It is easier (especially for beginners) if you eat less, more often.
  • “I don’t have time to make so many meals”. Well, that is where snacking comes in place. We don’t have to variate too much from a traditional diet (3 meals per day), if we just add snacks in between those.
Dark chocolate is great for muscle weight gain.

Why I included dirty bulk snacks:

I know, I always say that bulking means consuming healthy food in substantial amounts. That is however, only the rule of thumb. It is true very true that sometimes I also enjoy so called “junk food”. Nothing wrong with that, as long as we keep it to a minimum.

When you feel like you sweated a little bit extra on the day. When you have somehow got stuck in a cave for the whole day, and there were absolutely no other ways for you to consume enough calories. In those cases, maybe it isn’t such a horrible idea for you to consume a bag of your favorite chips. Or, eat a pint of ice cream.

We are, in fact, gaining weight. So, in our case, overeating is better than not eating enough.
I included dirty bulk snacks because I have a sweet tooth and I know many of you do as well. You shouldn’t feel bad about eating junk food, if you keep it to a minimum and not make it a habit.

Hardgainer Snacks. Teenager bodybuilder doing triceps exercise

(There are some bodybuilders on Youtube claiming they consume the whole ice cream pint every evening. Please, do not imitate them. They can only afford that due to steroids. Assuming you are natural, keep it to a minimum)

Musclebulkers Homemade Bar. Process how to make it
  • 18 bars: CALORIES: 3627____ CARBS:432___ FAT: 141 ___PROTEIN: 184
  • 1 bar: CALORIES:201___ CARBS:24 ___FAT:7.8 ___PROTEIN:10

Adding peanut butter on a rice cake is a great combination. What is more, slice half of a banana on there and you have got yourself a nice hardgainer snack!

Nuts are high in fat. We have learned in this article that 1g of fat contains 9kcal. Therefore, when we eat nuts a lot of calories really quickly. If you have no allergy constriction, nuts are a great way to consume some extra calories. Go nuts on nuts!

I love chocolate. Even so much that I had to replace my regular milk-chocolate with dark chocolate. Apparently, more cocoa means more of something called flavonoids. Flavonoids are good for your heart. They also enhance power of vitamin C and could prevent inflammation in the body. Dark chocolate tends to have less added sugar which improves nutritional value. So, pick a chocolate bar that has at least 65% cacao!

Why dried? Mostly because it will make you less full due to lack of water. Fruit is a great source of energy, vitamins, minerals and fiber.

have been a big supporter of Clif Bars. In the sea of branded nutrition bars, Clif Bar always stood out. I have found out that for the price of one bar, I get the most for my buck. It has healthy distribution of macronutrients. With 258 calories per bar, I get 11g of protein, 40g Carbohydrates and 6g of Fat. Not only that, Clif Bars are delicious and come in many different flavors!

My favorite flavor by far has been White Chocolate Macadamia Nut.Buy them in bulk so they are available everywhere you go.

7. Hard Boiled Eggs

Great source of healthy fat and protein. Hard boiled eggs are easy to make and store. In my opinion, it is one of the best foods to snack on, if you are on budget.

1. Benn & Jerry Pint

Hands down, the best ice cream out there. Besides bacon, Benn & Jerry Ice Cream is my favorite food that I discovered when I moved to America. Pint contains whopping 1120 Calories, and it always amazes me how quickly it goes down. I never go with “froyo” version. They are considered slightly healthier version. In my opinion, when it comes to Benn & Jerry, I go all in. (sorry not sorry)

2. Milk Shake

Forgot your protein shaker bottle? Stop by a local restaurant and get yourself a delicious milkshake that you deserve!

3. Pop-Tarts

What is more, Pop-Tart Sandwich. God Bless America, this insanely caloric snack is one of the best things I have ever eaten. It is an ice cream scoop sandwiched between two pop-tarts. Feel free to play with different variations of pop-tards and ice cream flavors.

This concludes my hardgainer snacks article. Remember, snacks are great for splitting up your calories intake. What is more, you save time by not having to prepare so many meals each day.

I want you to remember that we are looking for a clean bulk. That is a variation of bulking, in which we will not add too much unnecessary fat along the way. However, if you want to have a pint of BJs or Pop-tard sandwich, feel free to do so. Just, don’t make it into a habit!

To conclude, bulking is a privilege. I know it is hard sometimes and you feel like progress is not fast enough. However, imagine you would be on the other side of the coin. Imagine trying to cut weight.  Eating dry food with not much taste and sweating your balls in the gym. Feeling like you will pass out in the gym every minute due to a caloric deficit. Not having much energy during the days, so you are walking around like a zombie? All of the sudden, the act of preparing and eating massive amounts of tasty food, doesn’t sound so bad, does it?
